What I like about this book is that it doesn't belittle families. The authors are fully aware that there are many different kinds of families, from high functioning to alcoholic, but that there are "those" relatives in every family. The authors give a good many tips and strategies to protect yourself from toxic family members without insulting them or causing a scene. Their aim is to heal families, not hurt them. Highly commendable.
