"Radomir handled the meeting, because Gavin wanted to kill Norian Keef. Norian sat inside Gavin's office at the palace, nervously tapping a foot. That in itself irritated Gavin to the point of red-eyed, lengthy-fanged murder. Radomir worked to calm Norian while Gavin looked on, mentally considering the many, painful ways Norian might meet his end."
Assignments are handed out at the end of every Conclave, and Lissa has been given the assignment to act as Liaison for the ASD (Alliance Security Detail)—the Founder and Twenty Charter Members of the Reth Alliance have made that decision. As Lissa says, "you don't show up for the meeting, you get the assignment." She doesn't realize, at first, that the Founder intends her position to be hands-on.
Norian Keef, Director of the ASD, is hot on the trail of Solar Red, which is working its way into the Alliance, posing as legitimate religions and offering payouts to kings and governors to slip past Alliance rules. Solar Red has hired Black Mist to kill Lissa, but Black Mist has its own agenda where Lissa is concerned.
Viregruz, Black Mist's founder, has a personal vendetta against Lissa and will stop at nothing to eliminate the Vampire Queen. All it will take, in his estimation, is a few unguarded words to one of the spies placed on Le-Ath Veronis…..

This ninth installment in Connie Suttle's Blood Destiny series follows Lissa as she attempts to recover from her three-week vacation as energy. Almost immediately she must deal with the ill-advised and hurtful machinations of some heir-seeking in-laws, and while Solar Red, Red Hand and Black Mist are continuing their quest to kill her, Lissa must fend off malicious and unjust litigation, make some decisions regarding her Inner Circle, and deal with the deaths of several more people she loves.Overall, the plot line here is a good one, with a lot to keep the reader on the edge of their seats. Lissa's soft heart and guilt-ridden conscience seems to get her into more trouble than any typical person. One of her mates comments that she is "taking in strays" and it does seem that some of her actions here are impulsive. The ASD Director that Lissa has to work with is a bit annoying, but considering his background of being sold into slavery as a child, one can hardly be surprised that he is needy, insecure, and overly-focused on his job/accomplishing his goals.
On the technical side, there still isn't enough variation between the characters' speech. At one point the ASD Director comments that Lissa didn't "slap him through a wall" as expected. Prior to reading this series, I had never heard that phrase before, and I've lived in MANY places. So for this character to use it after SO MANY other characters from other planets have used it is just trite.
I've also noticed that, quite often, the prose explaining a set of dialogue comes *after* the dialogue. So someone will say something, but we don't know that the character is even in the room until *after* s/he says something. It just doesn't flow very well, and I tend to be confused as to who is speaking and when they showed up until that information is relayed. It would be so easy to reverse the sequence and explain that someone walks into the room and says whatever they have to say.
While the technical issues mentioned here bother me, the ideas, characters and the plot line continue to keep me intrigued and reading. This novel ends mostly on a high note with some new additions to Lissa's family, so it finally seems like Lissa is catching a break. I look forward to the next novel.

Blood Redemption Blood Destiny Book 9 eBook Connie Suttle Reviews
Since I discover this author while looking for book to read in Kinddle, I have not stopped reading all her books! She created a different world in which you find not only vampires and werewolves, but some other beings that only an author with an amazing imagination like Ms. Suttle could conceive. From the first book Blood Wager, to this one the story line changed so much, but in a good way. I love all the characters in her books, and how each character has a special role in Ms. Suttle world. This is a very entertaining and enjoyable series. If you like Urban Fantasy with a touch of Science Fiction, you are going to love all of Ms. Suttle books.
I am giving each book of this series a 4. However Some are better then others, I have re-read this series several times, and i usually start with book 4, 1-3 are very good, but they are the build up for the rest, books 4,6,7,8 are the really great books of the series.
I really don't have any bad things to say about the series. The characters are varied, and believable. The story starts as Urban Fantasy and goes to Sy Fy but thats one of the things i really enjoyed.
Connie Suttle has done it again! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I won't write a description here because the one provided in the "Book Description" is pretty good.
***There is a tiny bit of a spoiler in here surrounding characters following this*** There are new characters and characters that were previously more in the background who are main players in this book. My only problem with the book is that since those background characters came forward, the previous lead characters are barely mentioned. I missed Gavin, Tony, Winkler, and my Falchani twins! )
But overall, I loved this book.I read it in one night and woke up with gigantic bags under my eyes!
Well I don't really think there is much I can say. If you have read this far and are still reading though I think you will like this one a lot more than the last 5 or 6 books. This one has more action and I think Lissa is standing up for herself a bit more, not letting her mates push her around so much, but still can't seem to handle any tragedy in her life
But still one of the best in the.series.
Connie Suttle knows the landscape of the differences between women and men - whether they are humans, vampires or High Demons. Her excellently written Blood Destiny series was a riveting read for me from books #1 through #10. I am a fan now. Lissa is a fascinating female who metamorphoses from humanoid from Oklahoma, steeped in the "virtues" of good home cooking and loving one man to a Vampire Queen of a planet with multiple "mates" in her life. This growth is possible despite her terrible childhood beginnings where she almost dies from a brutal, homicidal father,to a series of vampire males from ancient Vampire "rulers" who use her for their own ends, through Vampire lovers who never appear to back her up when the going gets tough but who can't wait to make her their mate. Go figure. Connie Suttle clearly knows men have good intentions but are bumbling idiots when they try to deal with a powerful woman. It was a good romp for a paranomal reader.
